National Pest Management Association (NPMA) Members of the National Pest Management Association are part of the largest membership association in
our field. Their networking opportunities and educational resources mean members are always up to date on the latest techniques
in Pest Control.

History of the Association In 1944, about 25 men met in Waco to discuss and plan an opposing
position against proposed state legislation. That meeting was the embryo of the Texas Pest Control Association. The actual
association

was formed in 1945. Dr. C.A. Trimbos was the first elected president. The group united to fight legislation, but quickly
moved to provide education. In 1951, Bob Showalter became the first part-time association secretary. He set up training programs
and started a newsletter. In 1973, an association management firm (ASMI) was hired to handle the association activities, and
in 1991, TPCA hired their own full-time professional staff and set up
an office in Austin.
